For our first talk, we explore the idea of sensitizing the gaze: how filmmakers shift perspectives and approach sensitive subjects in their work breaking away from the traditional male gaze.
We will be joined by film director Emma Westenberg, animation director and former Next Talent Juliana Erazo and filmmaker Roel Vissers.

Emma Westenberg is a film director, visual artist, and storyteller known for her whimsical, cinematic style and cross-disciplinary work spanning short films, music videos, commercials, and narrative projects. Her work also celebrates feminine empowerment and sexuality, portraying a joyful, femme-centric world and playful imagery related to gender and self-expression.
Juliana Erazo, is a former Next Talent and animation director of Unlearning Motherhood. Her work explores intimate, lived experiences and challenges dominant narratives by foregrounding personal stories and nuanced perspectives. She will also be the moderator of the panel.
Roel Vissers started making films at a young age. After making several music videos and fashion films, this year he finished his first independent short film, Kloten. discussing topics around masculinity and peer pressure, while attempting to make a statement about the consequences of toxic masculinity. Roel’s goal is to bring a better representation of masculinity into his films and fight the stereotypes our generation grew up with.
